Panajachel Nature Reserve and on to San Pedro La Laguna

I’ve visited Panajachel in Guatemala 5 times now - all brief stops - and today for the 1st time I visited the nature reserve just outside of town. It has trails leading to waterfalls, across suspension bridges, and through beautiful jungly jungle; occasionally I could sneak a peek of Lake Atitlan.

For me, the monkeys were the highlight; they tend to steal the show wherever they are. Note the banana held in the tail of the 1st one. The other photos are all of the same monkey - a young male who entertained me for more than an hour.

Around noon I took a boat across the lake, watched the World Cup final, and settled in with my host family.

Pictured below are the 3 friendliest greeters: Augustin, Jose, and Juan. HAPPY TRAILS!
