Amber and Spirits

Another great day with family and school. After class my host, Hector, took the women in my group and I to the home of a friend who makes jewelry from amber. All of us bought items for ourselves and for gifts. I’ve posted photos of the house and our shopping experience below.

After lunch we were driven 10 miles out of town to participate in a spiritual ceremony which included a traditional Maya temascal (sweat bath). It was an incredible experience. After, as we shared tea and fruit with the leaders, I set my camera’s timer to take a picture of us and this phenomenal photo is what the camera recorded. This is not a joke; there were no reflections or smoke or steam and I didn’t mess with the photo. How phenomenal to participate in a spiritual ceremony and have a spirit show up in your group photo?! HAPPY TRAILS!
