Tarpon and Flamingos - June 22nd

Mike and his guide, Carlos, hit the water by 6am. They headed west, fishing the flats along the mangrove shoreline. When the wind picked up they went into an area of narrow channels.

He hooked quite a few tarpon and landed 4 - a great day! The guide was excellent and you can tell by the photo that Mike had a great time.

I left the dock at 9 am with my guide, Marcos. We headed east toward Rio Lagartos and beyond, spotting eagles, ibis, herons, storks, frigate birds, cormorants, and thousands of FLAMINGOS.

On the way back to San Felipe we stopped at several beachy places, including one with medicinal sand, another where a fresh water spring bubbles up in a popular swimming area called Ojo de Agua (“Eye of Water”), and another where I snorkeled a bit - not a lot to see except for lots of cute puffer fish, a type I haven‘t seen before.

East to Isla Mujeres in the morning. Good night from San Felipe and HAPPY TRAILS!
