Hello Isla Mujeres!

A transition day, leaving a place we loved and where we wished to have more time for another one we’re likely to feel the same way about. The owner of Hotel San Felipe de Jesus drove us the 45 minutes to the hub town of Tizimin where we extracted money from a bank to pay him in cash (no banks in San Felipe, credit cards, checks, and traveler's checques not accepted) and where we could choose between a bus and a taxi. The cost of the taxi was only $20 more than a combination bus to Cancun and taxi to the dock, so we rode in an air conditioned taxi for 2 and a half hours, stopped at roadside stands for bananas and treats....

.....and to snap a photo of the gas station across the road.

I enjoyed the changing views through the taxi window, and we eventually arrived at the dock in Cancun 10 minutes before the next ferry left for Isla Mujeres.

Our apartment is cute - full kitchen, private balcony, ac in the bedroom, every pastel color known to man, and a great value at $45/night.

It’s a block from the beach.

It’s also a block from the zocalo (town square) and a block from a grocery where we bought fruit, vegies, bread and pastries, hot sauce, coffee, pasta, eggs, cheese, potatoes, beer, limes, and other staples to cover the next few days. Fresh guacamole and tomato slices on toasted rolls for dinner, mmmm. Again, loved today. Again, can’t wait for tomorrow - HAPPY TRAILS!
